About

Hey! I'm Petros Kovatsis and I'm a software engineer who loves working on engineering problems and finding solid and reliable solutions. I live in Athens, Greece, and I am a father of two little girls. Although being the minority at home, I do enjoy the full attention! I also love travelling, discovering new destinations and trying to fit in with the locals. The picture below is taken in Amsterdam, right in front of the statue of Rembrandt van Rijn.

I studied Electronics and Computer Engineering and got my B.Eng (Bachelor of Engineering) from the Technological Institute of Piraeus (TEI of Piraeus), now merged into and renamed as University of West Attica (UNIWA). During my studies I focused more on computer science and software development, although I do have some understanding of hardware, electronics and circuits.

I also love data! Massive data, and extracting insights from them. For that reason I attended the Data Management M.Sc program at The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications (DIT) which was focused on data science. Although I didn't complete the program, I got the opportunity to expose myself to the data world and learn some interesting concepts.

As a true nerd, I also enjoy reading Mathematics and Physics. If I wasn't a software engineer, I would have probably been a physicist. I love learning about space and the Cosmos, and although I don't get all the concepts (the Math is from another world, or space if you wish), I always get fascinated by how much we humans have discovered so far.
